How to make posting tables

Post by Maitland on Tue Apr 22, 2014 12:39 am

How to make a table?

Okay, well tables can be made in several ways probably, and I'm not an expert at tables as I am still learning but I know how to do a basic table. Tables consist of a div tag, which is just a simple tag to do something with.

Square Tables

This is a heading

This is a paragraph.

Click for code:

Code:
<center><div style="color:#000000">
 <h3>This is a heading</h3>
 <p>This is a paragraph.</p>
</div></center>

This is a simple table, of course it's not all that fancy but its just a basic table you can find here.

But that's not something like everyone's tables, they're coloured and look cool! This is a list of html tags, some will help you create a table.

Oooh look coloured and boxy.

Click for code:

Code:
<center><div style="background-color:#ffffff; width: 500px; height: 200px;">Oooh look coloured and boxy.</div></center>

But you might say, oh I want a border on my table.

Oooh look coloured and boxy.

Click for code:

Code:
<center><div style="background-color:#ffffff; width: 500px; height: 200px; border: 1px solid; overflow:auto;">Oooh look coloured and boxy.</div></center>

Click this for other border styles, you are not limited to solid borders!

But then you might decide, you don't like the font or the side of it.

Oooh look coloured and boxy.

Click for code:

Code:
<center><div style="background-color:#ffffff; width: 500px; height: 200px; border: 1px solid; font-family: papyrus; font-size: 12px; overflow:auto;">Oooh look coloured and boxy.</div></center>

Keep in mind, you can do so many other things with tables, so many things that this guide could go on forever, which is just too much; feel free to pm/ask someone about them.

So maybe you decide, I want a second div inside of my first.

Oooh look coloured and boxy.
Oooh second boxy

Click for code:

Code:
<center><div style="background-color:#ffffff; width: 500px; height: 200px; border: 1px solid; font-family: papyrus; font-size: 12px; overflow:auto;">Oooh look coloured and boxy.<div style="background-color:#614087; width: 400px; height: 150px; border: 1px solid #ffffff; font-family: century gothic; font-size: 12px; overflow:auto;">Oooh second boxy</div></div></center>

When doing this, make you close your second div tag. For every div tag you must have a closing tag.
3 div tags = 3 closing tags.

So now you want an image in your table, you can have it several different ways. You can have it at the top, or the bottom. Depending on how you want it to work out.

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy shorty
Random stuff goes here, have some fun.

Click for code:

Code:
<center><div style="background-color:#ffffff; width: 500px; height: 300px; border: 1px solid; font-family: papyrus; font-size: 12px; overflow:auto;"><img src="http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/27219iAA619F24CEE84278/image-size/medium?v=mpbl-1&px=-1">
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy shorty<div style="background-color:#614087; width: 400px; height: 150px; border: 1px solid #ffffff; font-family: century gothic; font-size: 12px; overflow:auto;">Random stuff goes here, have some fun.</div></div></center>

But maybe you want the picture to blend into your table.

Hope this helped, feel free to PM and ask.

Thank you so much for making the guide, Myk. I'll be using it when I'm making my biography.

Will do. I may actually ask you to help me code my biography. I'm really not into the whole coding thing anymore and forgot how to do most of it.
